Stephen Curry reaches 1,000 career three-pointers faster than anyone in NBA history

Golden State Warriors’ sharpshooter and MVP candidate Stephen Curry reached another milestone in what has so far been a storybook season for him and his organization.

In Wednesday night’s 117-102 victory over the Indiana Pacers, Curry went 4-for-8 from the three-point line en route to 21 points. With his very first triple of the game, he buried  his 1,000th career three, making him the quickest player ever to achieve that feat.

He accomplished it in 369 career games and shattered the mark former Orlando Magic player Dennis Scott held at 457 career games. Ray Allen, the NBA’s all-time leader in three-point field goals made, rattled home his 1,000th career three in his 473rd game.

Curry has averaged 2.7 made triples a game in the midst of just his fifth NBA season. A career 43.5 percent shooter from the three-point line, Curry has the Warriors out to an NBA best record of 28-5 this season.

Allen has 2,973 career three-pointers in exactly 1,300 career games. He is currently unsigned. If Curry keeps up his current pace, and if he can stay relatively healthy, of course, he will have 3,510 threes after his 1,300th-career game, putting him well on pace to become the NBA’s all-time leader.
